Advanced and Robust Analysis of Wind Effects

Wind Engineering for Helipads

John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct

Windtech was commissioned by Health Infrastructure NSW and Multiplex to assess helipad infrastructure for the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct in Newcastle. The work considered both operational wind conditions and air quality impacts from helicopter exhausts.

  • Helipad location desktop commentary.
  • CFD wind speed and turbulence assessment for the Acute Services Building helipad.
  • Pollution dispersion review for helicopter exhausts.
  • Air quality CFD study for exhaust plume impacts on air intakes.

CFD and Air Quality Assessment

Windtech assessed turbulence, likely hazards, and exhaust plume dispersion to guide safe and functional helipad operation. The studies looked at NOX and CO behaviour around the proposed development and recommended mitigation treatments where needed.
